Buckley House Vets

The practice is centred around two ancient buildings (17th century) which had already been altered significantly before the practice was established. They have been reworked and extended significantly with the hospital wing being added as a modern high tech building.

This mixture gives a warm and welcoming feel to the public areas whilst allowing state of the art care facilities in the hospital wing. The smaller building to the right houses the cat waiting and consulting areas plus the pharmacy.

Consulting Rooms

There are five consulting rooms, 3 general purpose, one dedicated to nursing funtions and one for special examinations ( eye ear and ultrasound).

The design ethos is to build in fixtures and fitting for hygiene purposes and to give an uncluttered clinical working space.

Main Operating Theatre

This room exemplifies the creation of a hygienic work friendly space.

It has underfloor heating, air conditioning and filtration, wipe clean walls and ceilings with high specification operating lights, plummed in anaesthetic gases, compresed air, suction and automatic scavenging of waste gases. Controls and xray views are al built in flush with the walls.

Vet Prep Room

This room is used to prepare animals for major surgery, perform minor surgery and has a tub wash down table for contaminated cases with air extraction to reduce cross containation.

All fixtures are stainless steel and the walls , ceilings and doors are all wipe clean platicised material as for the theatre. The prep room also houses the flexible endoscopy cart to drive the high specification video endoscopes.

Recovery Room

The kennels are all stainless construction with sound deadening insulation between them and heating pipes woven between them to prevent metal chilll.

The patient hoist can be seen in the corner kennel to assist large recumbant patients to be taken into the exercise area via an overhead track system.

The outside exercise area is equipped with a victorian dog loo ( lamp post!) a warm water wash down facility and a hoist for disabled patients.

Happy Recovering Cat

The cat accomodation is in a separate room to reduce stress from barking dogs.

As you can see, our cat patients have a nice spacious, warm and homely area to recover in.

X Ray
The practice was one of the first in the country to adopt digital X ray (7 years ago)

Graham Oliver conducted a lecture tour around the country including the channel isles to help to highlight the advantages of such systems.

Consistent high quality pictures creates massive time savings in diagnosing our patients, with secure storage and the ability to email images to colleagues at the touch of a button to speed second opinons when needed

This image capture system is coupled to the latest high specification X ray machine specifically dseigned for veterinary use.
